Expertise: Software Patents & Patent Searches

Ian is a graduate of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University, where he was part of its inaugural class.  Afterwards he worked as a Patent Examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office specializing in medical devices ranging from catheters to syringes and implantable pumps.  After 10 years of conveying legal and scientific ideas to applicants and attorneys, he returned to Indiana.  He attended the Andre B. Lacy School of business at Butler University where he completed his MBA with a concentration in marketing and was part of a team that helped design an international expansion plan for an Indianapolis company.

  • When clients work with me, they always say/remark: That I have an ability to learn new concepts quickly and distill them down to easier to understand information helps comprehension of complicated topics.

  • Interesting fact or tidbit about yourself: I keep bees at home and have had mixed success in making mead from their honey.

  • Favorite quote: “Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.” - Henry Ford
